William D. Backman IV was born on
September 18 1980, in Lawrenceburg, Indiana. Billy was the
firstborn, and he was always close with Nicholas, his younger
brother. He spent a lot of early years on Briarwood with his
cousins, going down to the creek to look for salamanders.
Billy went to kindergarten at St. John's Lutheran School and
elementary school at St. Mary's. He was a graduate of LaSalle High
School in Cincinnati, Ohio. He studied for two years at the College
of Mt. St. Joseph.
Billy was an avid outdoorsman. He was a member of Kentucky Bass
Federation, Ducks Unlimited, Safari Club International, National
Wild Turkey Federation, and a Life Member of the Bass Anglers
Sportsmen Society.
Billy was a counselor at the Y.O. Ranch for Children in Mt. Holmes,
Texas, in the summer of 2001, and he was planning to return to
school at the college that January. His love of outdoors took him on
many adventures.
